What is Pilates

Pilates, pronounced "pih-lah-teez", is an exercise system created by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s. Joe was highly innovative, being one of the first practitioners to explore exercising body and mind. Inspired by his own childhood health problems, he experimented with many forms of exercise to develop a way of working muscles with conscious awareness to create a balanced, toned and flexible body and a sense of well-being.
