Pregnancy and Post Natal Pilates Classes

Pilates is an ideal form of exercise during pregnancy as it stabilises core muscles gently, works the pelvic floor, and moblilises and stretches the body. Pilates and Active Birth are a perfect combination as they both focus on the breath, your core muscles, especially pelvic floor, to help your body cope with the changes of pregnancy and birth, and stay fit, healthy and prepared.

Post-natal classes are designed to help your regain your abdominal and pelvic floor muscle strength after giving birth, and realign your body. They are a fantastic way for new mothers to have some 'me time' and feel re-energised by thoughtful exercise.

The classes are for three women only, so we can provide safe, personal care and attention to you throughout the changes that occur to your mind and body during pregnancy and after birth. We create a friendly, supportive environment, with many people continuing to be friends long after the classes are over and their babies are born. Many women come back to class when they are pregnant with their second or third babies and do post-natal classes with us.

Active Birth with Pilates Based Exercise

This is a new type of Pregnancy class, combining Active Birth and Pilates based exercises.

Term 1 2012  Five Weeks  with Penny Johnstone   January 12th to February 9th

Thursday 6pm to 7.15pm       Three places available

Thursday 7.15pm to 8.30pm  Three places available

Cost: £100 for the five weeks 

To Book:  Please email us and tell us a bit about your pregnancy and due date.  Once we confirm we have a place for you, please go to the 'bookings/contact us' page of the website and select the 'winter/spring pregnancy 5 week' block and it will take your through paying via Paypal.  You can send a cheque if you prefer.  We will keep your place reserved for 5 days for cheques to get to us, after which we re-open the place.  Please note we need three women to run and all classes are non-refundable. 

Post Natal Pilates Classes

Recommended for: Women from the six-week check after birth up to a year or more after birth, especially if you still have abdominal separation. If you recently gave birth, we recommend you do two blocks of the term before moving back into a normal Pilates class. To join a post-natal class, please attend your 6-week check first. Please note, this class is for mothers only, please leave your babies in the care of someone, so you can have some 'me time'!

Cost: £96 for five weeks

To Book: Please email us to request a place, letting us know when you gave birth and if you have any conditions or injuries. Once you receive confirmation, you can pay via the bookings/contact us page of the website, selecting the 5 weeks post natal block. You can pay by cheque, making it payable to 'Bea Alexander', and posting to 6 Strathfillan Road, Edinburgh, EH9 2AG.  We will reserve a place for you for 5 days to pay by this method, after which it is opened to others if we have not received payment.  We need three women to run.  Classes are non-refundable.

Terms and Conditions of Pregnancy/Postnatal Class

These classes are designed to be a safe and cost-effective way for pregnant women and new mothers to attend Studio Pilates. If these classes are unavailable or inconvenient, feel free to attend an individual studio session instead.

Please email or ring us to discuss availability and suitability of the class for you. Places are confirmed as soon as payment has been received. Classes are allocated on a first paid, first booked-in basis. We will keep a place for you for five days. Unpaid for places after this time cannot be held, we are sorry. If your due date falls in the middle of the block, apologies, but we cannot not take half-block bookings. In this case, you can either pay for the whole block or to do some individual work for the few weeks before the birth of your baby. If we get more demand, we are able to set up extra classes to accommodate you.

Classes will only run if three women have booked for the class. Once you have booked a place, classes are non-refundable in all circumstances. Unfortunately, we cannot give you a refund if you miss a class, but if someone else in one of the other classes is going to be away, there is a possibility of making up the class, but this cannot be guaranteed.
