The Levels Explained

Beginners: This is a long block of beginners classes designed for those who are absolute beginners to Pilates or have a little experience. It is also suitable for those who have done a term or two of beginners, including the short, Summer 'taster' sessions, who want to do more work on the core principles of Pilates and for those with injuries. Always discuss injuries with me before booking.

Level 1: This is for people who have done at least one term of Beginners Pilates and for those who want to continue to work at a moderate pace. We introduce a wider range of exercises than Beginners and explore in more detail how to breathe, stabilise and mobilise the body, gaining much greater control and power.

Level 1 to 2 Plus: This class is aimed at those of mixed abilities who want to come at an earlier time of day. It can accommodate people who have done at least one term of beginners up to those who have been doing Pilates for a few years. This is a good class for those of you who want to know the 'whys' about their bodies and how to get the most out of Pilates for themselves.

General: The General lunch time class is aimed at those of mixed abilities, from beginners with no injuries to those who have been coming to Pilates for some years. It is a fun, pacy class.

Level 2: For those of you who have done at least one or more terms of Level 1. The exercises start to get harder and the pace is a little faster than level 1.

Level 3: Level 3 starts to do far more of the 'classical Pilates' repertoire of exercises.

Level 4: This class is aimed at those of you who have done at least a term of Level 3, and want to work harder. We use a lot of classical Pilates and investigate the strength and mobility of every part of your body!

Level 4 Advanced: This Level 4 class is similar to the earlier class, just some of the attendees have been practicing Pilates for a long time.

Those of you with Pilates experience but new to Bea Alexander Pilates, Please call or email to discuss which level of class would suit you best.

Advice: Don't necessarily think of the levels as something to work your way up through. Not everyone is going to want to do the highest level. Pilates is a way of thinking about and using your body that permeates your everyday life, to create good body posture and use. Your awareness will deepen the longer you do Pilates at whatever level of exercise difficulty. Level 1 and 2 and the general class are a very good way of maintaining your structural fitness.

Policies

Making Up Classes: We are one of the few Pilates organisations that does allow you to make up classes you have had to miss. We understand life if busy! Please attend the class you have booked for unless it is unavoidable. Those who have booked a space in a particular class have priority, so the facility is subject to space availability. Missed classes cannot be carried over into another term or given to another person.

Refunds: Class bookings are non-refundable.

"Physical fitness is the first requisite of happiness. In order to achieve happiness, it is imperative to gain mastery of your body. If at the age of 30 you are stiff and out of shape, you are old. If at 60 you are supple and strong then you are young."
